AMERICA became great by letting Americans become great, by giving every man, woman, and child the chance to progress as far as his/her ambition, energy, and productivity would allow.
There was no Federal aid to pilgrims. They lived in a depressed area, but no one guaranteed them a living. They invested their lives in their work and to this land. They profited in self respect. They earned great wealth in character and built the foundation of our great nation.
In this THANKSGIVING season, let us be thankful for our heritage, our freedoms, and the opportunities offered by our forefathers -- and this great land.
May our country, our families, and our friends be blessed and prosper in the year ahead as we Americans continue to work together with much the same spirit, initiative and goals as did the pilgrams so many years ago.
This year, so many families, as they sit down for their Thanksgiving dinners, will be thankful, but yet, so sad. Thousands of families are missing their most cherished things in life -- their husband, or wife, or child, who by the hands of madmen, have been taken from them. The holidays that approach us will tear at so many hearts because their lives will never be the same without their famiilies and friends who sat at those very tables just last Thanksgiving Day ....
May we, as we sit at our Thanksgiving table, remember the families who grieve this season and say a prayer that God will give them the strength that only He can give.
