We have completed our 10th year at the Florida Strawberry Festival, with not the best of weather, but a successful one, nevertheless. Although we do not try to compete for ribbons, Gone With the Wind Memories was fortunate enough to win Second Place in the Commercial Division again this year.
During the festival we were pleased to have MICKEY KUHN (Beau Wilkes) and his lovely wife, Barbara, with us with for a couple of days. Barbara didn't get to come in October when Mickey was last here, so it was great to have her visit with us. Of course, we had to take them to the Strawberry Festival for some of Plant City's "flavor" and scrumptious strawberry shortcake. Barbara was fascinated with the chickens, rabbits, and cows (those city people get excited over the strangest things - in 20 years, I have never gone into those animal tents) and Mickey finally found out the difference between a bull and steer. So, everyone went away with educational knowledge they didn't have before they arrived at the festival. The owners of the Ramada Plantation House put them up in the beautiful GWTW suite and they thoroughly enjoyed their nights in the suite. (If you have not seen the suite at the Plant City Ramada Plantation House, just click on the following link.)
If you would like to view photos of the suite, go to the ACCOMMODATIONS area, click on Luxury Suites, and then go to the GWTW suite. You can also go to the PHOTO ALBUM part, then go down to the "Visit From Beau Wilkes" and view some photos there of Mickey's recent visit.
