The Marietta, Georgia SCARLETT ON THE SQUARE MUSEUM is planning a fun weekend for the 4th of July. Entitled "A STAR SPANGLED SCARLETT WEEKEND", plans are not totally finalized but it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun!
Plans include Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 4-5-6) activities for GWTW fans (and others) with a different slant than usual. The event will involve: ANN RUTHERFORD (Carreen O'Hara) -- FRED CRANE (Brent Tarleton) -- MICKEY KUHN (Beau Wilkes) -- CAMMIE KING (Bonnie Blue Butler) -- PATRICK CURTIS (Beau Wilkes after the war), plus THE RHETT BUTLER SHOW TRUCK!!
Events/activities for Friday (the 4th) will include the celebrities riding in antique cars in the annual 4th of July parade, and an autograph session with the celebrities afterwards.
There will be a breakfast on Saturday morning with the celebrities, along with trivia and a question/answer period.
Saturday evening will be a "1940's" night with a special salute to our military personnel. Guests will be encouraged to dress in 1940's attire (not mandatory) and the event will be open to the general public. During World War II, many of the Hollywood celebrities went to the Hollywood Canteen to lend their support to our troops, so the decorations will help make the ballroom look like a USO Club. Neat, huh? Attire will be 1940's, or military, black tie, or casual. A big band with 40's music will top off the buffet dinner and the evening will hold other "goodies" for you, as well.
Sunday will bring a Swap Meet for those who wish to sell their GWTW items.
As more information becomes available, we'll be posting updates. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to call the museum at (770) 794-5576 during their regular hours of operation.
