As many of you have probably heard, FRED CRANE had surgery yesterday relative to his leg. Previous medical procedures has resulted in very poor circulation in his leg, and it had become necessary to take serious action to help correct the problem.
I spoke with Terry just a few moments ago and the surgery went well. They were certainly concerned about having to use general anesthesia and the effect on his heart, but he made it fine. They have put a new vein in the leg and as of now, are getting a good pulse reading from it. The doctors are optimistic of the possibility that the cadaver vein will correct the circulation problem. He is in good spirits, but in quite a bit of pain and is under heavy sedation.
It will be about two weeks after surgery before the doctors can tell whether the new vein is going to take care of the problem. If it doesn't, then more drastic measures will need to be taken... but we they are NOT thinking of that right now.
Terry has asked me to make a posting on this board to let you know she and Fred certainly appreciates your concern. She feels is it best if no calls are made to the hospital. Of course, she is exhausted as well, and any time Fred can get any rest it is most important for him. I will be checking with Terry again in a couple of days and give you updated posting at that time.
We are certain your prayers are with them during this difficult time and if you would like to send a card, you may do so at the following address:
