ATLANTA (AP) -- In a belt-tightening move, the Atlanta History Center has reduced its 74-member staff by 15 employees, including seven of eight employed by the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum.

Mitchell wrote most of "Gone With The Wind" while she and her husband lived in the house between 1925 and 1932. The house opened as a museum in 1997.

History Center President and CEO Sal Cilella said Tuesday the house would not close, but he couldn't comment on the future of particular programs at either location. He said cost reductions would be necessary to address a $1.4 million deficit the museum faces.
