CELEBRATION OF MOVIES II
Sunday Afternoon, September 20, 2009
1:00- 5:00 PM, with early check-in at 12:30 pm at the Culver Hotel

Following the hugely successful 1989 50th Anniversary “Celebration of the Movies” of the universally-considered greatest year in film – 1939 – the Culver City Historical Society will present a “Celebration of the Movies II.” This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the release of the many classic 1939 movies, including Gone With The Wind and the Wizard of Oz, both made here, in the “Heart of Screenland.” We’ve chosen September 20th, Culver City’s 92nd Anniversary of incorporation, for this fun-filled event where you can bring your camera and a blanket for a relaxing afternoon in Downtown Culver City. Costumes are definitely encouraged!
PATRICK CURTIS who played Beau Wilkes after the war will be attending and will be part of the festitives.
Your $19.39 ticket includes admission to the historic Culver Studios where Gone With The Wind was filmed PLUS: special guests and glimpses into our movie history; a rare display of the Fred Parrish GWTW Still Collection; many photo ops with family and friends; a tour of the studio lot (first come, first served); a Souvenir Program (for the first 500); wonderful vintage music by The Melody Masters; and free entry into the “Look-Alike” Contests with prizes for the best “Rhett Butler,” “Scarlett O’Hara,” or favorite character from The Wizard of Oz. The studio’s historic front building which became the image for the Selznick Studios on Washington Blvd. will be center stage.
Event check-in will be held at the landmark Culver Hotel – where the “Munchkins” stayed during filming of the Wizard of Oz. Tickets will be held at entry will-call, where special setups can also be enjoyed.

The Culver City Historical Society Archives (entry behind the Veterans Building) will also accept reservation checks on the first and third Saturdays of the month, 1-3 pm, and during Fiesta weekend, 11am-4pm.
