ABOVE PHOTO: Circa 1959 Photo of TARA on the "back 40 acres lot". It stood for twenty years as a staple of the Forty Acres back lot, before being dismantled in the summer of 1959 and shipped away. Before "Tara" was removed, the mansion facade made a few final appearances in Desilu productions, including the television series "The Texan".

Thanks to Chris Sullivan for forwarding to me this wonderful link (www.retroweb.com) which is full of little known information and gobs of photos regarding the "40 acres back lot" of the Selznick Studios.
This acreage was used for the filming of GWTW and you will be surprised at all the other films and series that were filmed on this 'sacred land' (at least it is to us GWTW enthusiasts). I would recommend that you take a few minutes to go through this web site -- I am sure you will be amazed at how many well-known TV series were filmed on 'GWTW land'! Just a few of them were: The Andy Griffith Show, The Untouchables, My Three Sons, Hogan's Heroes, Star Trek, Etc.
Of course, there are also photos of GWTW buildings. The web site is full of goodies, so allow yourself a some time to enjoy it!
