6. What other member of Carroll Nye's family was involved with the movie version of Gone With the Wind?
SOME SOURCES SAY THAT BEN NYE, A MAKE-UP ARTIST FOR GWTW WAS CARROLL'S BROTHER.
However, Kathleen Marcaccio has emailed me with the following information:

Just a comment in advance of your posting the answers today, in case you would care to share. Carroll Nye was born Robert Carroll Nye on October 4, 1901 in Akron, Ohio.(Coincidentally, he was born in the same year as Clark Gable in the same state just 50 or so miles away from Gable's birthplace in Cadiz.)His parents were William Putnam Nye and Myral Bell Sturtevant.

Anticipating that you are looking for Ben Nye, the makeup artist, as the answer to the next question, I have to tell you that despite this information being printed in numerous GWTW reference books, it is not true. Carroll Nye and Ben Nye were not brothers. In fact, despite sharing the same last name, they were not even close relatives, although it is quite likely that they were distant cousins.

Here's the info on Ben Nye, corroborated by both his birth and death certificates and his son Dana Nye: Benjamin Emmet Nye was born on January 12, 1907 in Fremont, Nebraska to Charles F. Nye and Josephine Anna Rearwin.

As you can tell, I've done some research into the genealogy of these two men. Why? Because my great-grandmother was a Nye. Once I uncovered Carroll Nye's birth name of Robert Carroll Nye, I was able to connect him to the published Nye family history that dates back to the first Nye in America, Benjamin Nye, who landed in 1635. Carroll Nye are 7th cousins, twice removed (meaning that he was of my grandmother's generation). As for Ben Nye, because I haven't been able to trace him beyond his father Charles F. Nye, I can't plug him into the family tree. Dana Nye's letter to me indicates that Carroll Nye "was not a relative" so their common Nye ancestor would likely be a few generations back. Maybe some day I will have time to uncover the missing link. Please feel free to use this info when providing the answer.

7. What Shirley Temple movie did Carroll Nye appear in immediately before beginning work on Gone With the Wind?
A 1938 FILM ENTITLED "REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM".
